20.Make a pocket. (Please refer to Bag #1) Insert a pocket in the bag and pin at the top edge.
Stitch two bags with 0.5cm seam allowance at the top edge.

100% Merino wool knit dress. It's felted previously.

2.Print patterns from my HP and cut them out.
Print the bottom portion on 2 papers.
Place them
symmetrically and tape together.

9.Baste the 3 layers and do quilting 3cm distance.
Remove the basting stitches.
After the quilting work, cut the top edge without seam allowance and other edges with 1cm seam allowance.

8.Lay the quilt batting on the cotton fabric gusset,and lay the felted knit gusset on the quilt batting.
It's 3 layers.

19.Insert the inner bag in the outer bag wrong sides facing..
Pin the two bags at the top edge.

3.Print the front portion in normal position and a mirror image.
Place them symmetrically and tape together.

6.Lay a paper-backed fusible web, paper side up on the front portion pattern.
Draw the out lines and the motifs.


23Match the seams of the long strips to the center marks of the gusset.
Stitch the edges of the gusset with 1.5cm seam allowances.

Roll the free edge of the strip, bind the top edge of the gusset and pin it. 
Fold each raw edge of the surplus strip in toward the center, wrong sides together.
Fold it again and baste the strip full circle.  
Top stitch all around of the edge of the strip. Remove the basting stitch.
Turn to right.

11.From the front portion, rough cut 2× pieces the felted knit fabric and 2× pieces the sailcloth.

16.Pin each tucks , and then baste 0.5cm seam allowance.

15.Secure the raw edge of the motifs with machine.
Machine stitch 2 mm from the edges .

14.Lay the cutworked knit fabric right side up on the sailcloth. Iron it to fuse the web to the sailcloth.

Preparation

◎ Quilt batting (50cm×60cm) 
◎ Paper-backed fusible web(90cm×35cm)
◎ Sailcloth(92cm×20cm)
◎ Nylon oxford for a pocket(20cm×40cm)
◎ Cotton fabric for backing of gusset(92cm×45cm)
◎ Inner bag fabric(92cm×80cm)
◎ Scissors, Sewing machine, Thread, Dress pin

22.Pin the short strips at the top edge of the front portion of the bag.
Sew with 1.5cm seam allowances.
Roll the free edge of the strip, bind the top edge of the bag and topstitch in place.

21.Cut sailcloth strips for binding and handles. 2×6cm×24cm6cm×70cm
Sew the long strips at both ends with 1cm seam allowance.

17.Pin the gusset and the front portions right sides facing..
Sew together. Turn to right.
  It's an outer bag.

13.Peel the paper from the fabric away .

12.Place the paper-backed fusible web on the back of the felted knit fabric paper side up.
Iron over the paper to fuse the web to the fabric.
Cut out the motifs with small size scissors.

4.Enlarge the pocket pattern with a copier or draw it on a paper sheet by yourself.

I used Nylon Oxford for a pocket. It's non fray fabric.

If you
use any fray fabric, cut the side seam allowances 2cm.
Fold
them twice and stitch along edges.

7.Rough cut a felted knit and a cotton fabric for side and bottom portions.
Also, rough cut a quilt batting for a gusset.
Sew together two side portions and the bottom portion to make a gusset.
